The Bible says...

"I have written this to you who believe in the Son of God so that you may KNOW you have eternal life" (I John 5:13).

Notice 3 things...

1. The Bible (Old and New Testaments) was written so that you might place your faith and trust in the Son of God (Jesus).

2. The Bible was written so that you would KNOW that you have eternal life.  You can know that right here and now.  It is too late to find out after you have passed from this life.

3. Eternal life can and should be your present possession, "...so that you may know you HAVE (present tense) eternal life."

Notice the previous verse: "So whoever has God's Son has life; whoever does not have His Son does not have life"   (I John 5:12).

Hi

Let me introduce myself.  I was born in Emmaus, Pennsylvania.  Later our family moved to Lancaster, where I graduated from Manheim Township High School.  From there I went on to Moody Bible Institute and later to the University of Maryland - Baltimore County.  My life can be described in three areas:

RADIO:

I began working in radio at WMBI, the Moody Bible Institute radio station in Chicago.  I later worked at WBRX, Berwick, Pennsylvania; WLOI, LaPorte, Indiana; WRVB, Madison, Wisconsin (Wisconsin Radio Voice of the Bible), as Assistant Manager; WRBS, Baltimore, Maryland (Peter and John Radio Fellowship) Announcer and Salesman; WMHR, Syracuse, New York (Mars Hill Broadcasting Company as a founder, first manager and part owner).  I also served as Music Minister at our local church for nine nears, during which time I wrote and produced a Christmas Program including choir, actors and two video screens to portray the story told by the music.  To see a more complete rundown of my radio years, especially the Mars Hill Network (WMHR) in Syracuse, New York, which I still support, click here. (Sorry, this is not yet linked)

AUTHOR:

While I have written published articles over the years; and even was publisher of a monthly magazine for about five years; it was not until the Twenty-first Century that I began writing books.  My first book was published in 2007; and as of this writing, I have completed twelve and am working on my thirteenth.  These books range from Bible study, to history, to science, and even a Pennsylvania Dutch cook book.  For a listing and summary of these books, please click here.

RETIREMENT:

We are so busy in our retirement that I sometimes wonder how I ever had time to go to work.  In addition to writing, we spend two days a week at our church food pantry distributing food, clothing, diapers, toiletries and more to needy people in our community.  We are also kept busy taxiing family members and friends to medical and other appointments.  We began downsizing in 2014, moving to a more convenient home with a small yard which I can mow in twenty minutes.  We have sold one of our rent houses, and will soon be putting our previous home, and the apartments we built on the same property, up for sale.

THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN ALL OF LIFE:

Some years ago I sat in a church serivce, and during the sermon heard the rector say, "Those terms 'born again' and 'saved' do not appear anywhere in the Bible."  I don't know what Bible he was reading, but my Bible, and all English translations, use those words often.

Jesus was speaking to one of the most influential religious leaders of His time.  He told Nicodemus, a member of the ruling Sanhedrin, "With all the earnestness I possess I tell you this: Unless you are born again, you can never get into the Kingdom of God" (John 3:3 LB).  Jesus went on to explain, "For God loved the world so much that He gave His only Son so that anyone who believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.  God did not send His Son into the world to condemn it, but to save it.  There is no eternal doom awaiting those who trust Him to save them.  But those who don't trust Him have already been tried and condemned for not believing in the only Son of God" (John 3:16-18 LB).

There are many books in the Bible, both Old and New Testaments, which outline the way to be "born again" or "saved."  Consider these passages from the Book of Romans in the New Testament:

* "For there is none righteous, no not one" (Romans 3:10 NKJV).

* "For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23
   NKJV).

* "But God demonstrates His own love for us in that while we were still sinners
Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8 NKJV).

* "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus
   our Lord" (Romans 6:23 NKJV).

* "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that
God raised Him from the dead you shall be saved" (Romans 10:13 NKJV).

* "For all who call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13
   NKJV).

The question is: "Have you been born again; have you been saved?"  The answer to that question will determine your destiry for all eternity.  It is the most important question you will ever face during this lifetime; and putting off the decision could be an eternal disaster.
